A total of 975 examinees remained absent on the first day of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations that began across the Chittagong Education Board on Sunday.
Besides, 3 candidates were expelled for adopting unfair means.
Prof AMM Mujibur Rahman, controller of examinations at Chattogram Education Board confirmed this information to Daily Observer on Sunday afternoon.
He said that a total of 67 thousand and 655 students participated out of 68 thousand and 328 candidates in 69 centers in Chattogram. Absent 673 candidates .
In addition, 3 examinees have been expelled from Khagrachari for malpractice in the examination. All the three are said to be exam candidates of Dighinala Government College Centre.
11,548 students out of 11,684 participated in 18 centers in Cox's Bazar district. Absent 136 candidates .
In Rangamati district, 4,584 candidates out of 4,639 participated in 10 examination centers . Absent 55 candidates .
Meanwhile, 5,299 examinees were eligible for participating in the exams in Khagrachari district, but, 5,254 participated while 45 people were absent.
Out of 3,194 people in eight centers in Bandarban district, 3,128 participated appeared for the exams and 66 people were absent.
