A Jashore court on Sunday sentenced a man to death for killing his parents at Chaugacha upazila in the district in 2019.
Jewel Adhikari, the judge of Jashore 7th Additional District and Sessions Judge Court, delivered the verdict on Sunday afternoon.
The court also fined him Tk 5,000.
The convicted is Milon Uddin, 32, son of Mohir Uddin and Anwara Begum couple, resident of Ramkrishnapur village under the upazila.
According to the case details, Milon was known for his unruly behavior and used demand money from his parentsto frequently. He used to roam around aimlessly, refusing to work despite their encouragement. On the morning of December 25, 2019, Milon asked his father, Mohir Uddin, 62, for Tk 2,000 as pocket money. When his father refused, Milon attacked him with a sharp weapon, inflicting severe injuries. His mother, Anwara Begum, 55, was also attacked and wounded when she tried to intervene.
Both parents succumbed to their injuries and died at the scene due to excessive bleeding.
Following the incident, Milon's brother, Humayun Kabir, filed a murder case with Chaugacha Police Station against him.
After a lengthy judicial process, the court found Milon guilty based on the evidence and testimonies presented.
