A couple was killed and three others injured when their private car collided with a stationary truck on the Sylhet-Bholaganj Bangabandhu regional highway in
Sylhet Sadar upazila on Monday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Sabur Mia, 27, and his wife Rahena Akter, 22, from Bara Dhamai village in Juri upazila of Moulvibazar district.
Meanwhile, the injured were rescued and admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
According to eyewitnesses, the private car, coming from Bholaganj in Companyganj, rammed into the rear of the parked truck in the Dhopagul area, during heavy rainfall, leaving five people critically injured.
Confirming the matter, Sylhet Airport Police Station officer-in-charge Mohammad Nunu Mia said that the critically injured Sabur Mia and Rahena Akter were rescued and taken to the hospital where the physicians pronounced them dead upon arrival at the hospital.
