Two brothers were killed in an
accident on a rain-soaked road in Boalmari upazila in
Faridpur district on Tuesday evening.
The accident took place around 6:30 pm on the Majhkandi-Boalmari-Bhatiapara regional highway at Baikhir Milghar area under Chatul union in the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Husain Mia, son of Ramjan Mia, a resident of Naopara village under Alphadanga upazila and his cousin Raju Sheikh, 21, son of Nurul Islam, of Dharalchar village under the same upazila.
According to locals, a passenger bus traveling from Alfadanga to Faridpur collided head-on with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.
Locals said that the motorcycle was speeding recklessly. In the collision, the motorcyclist was crushed under the bus's wheels, and the other rider fell onto the road, sustaining a fatal head injury and died on the spot.
Following the accident, the bus driver and staff left the vehicle and fled away.
Boalmari Police Station officer-in-charge Md. Shahidul Islam said that police went to the spot after receiving the information and seized the bus from the spot.
The vehicle was brought to the police station, and a case is being processed in this connection, added the OC.
