Woman dies from snakebite at SBMCH

BARISHAL, July 2: A housewife, who was injured from snakebite in Patharghata Upazila of Barguna District, died at Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Sumaiya Akhter Moni, wife of Mahbubur Rahman Mithu, a resident of Charduani area in Patharghata Upazila of Barguna District.
It was known that a venomous snake bit Sumaiya, mother of a six-year-old child, at around 11 pm on Monday while she was going to the bathroom, which left her critically injured.
Sensing the matter, the family members rescued Sumaiya and took to Patharghata Upazila Health Complex first, and then, shifted her to the SBMCH following the deterioration of her condition.
Later on, she was declared dead by the on-duty doctor at the SBMCH in the early hours of Tuesday.
