More than 700 tourists stuck in Sajek due to incessant rains and flash floods have left for Khagrachhari.

They left Sajek at around 11:00am on Wednesday (July 3) by tourists buses and private cars.
Sajek Resort-Cottage Owners Association general secretary Motijoy Tripura confirmed it.

He said the tourists left for Khagrachhari after water in Baghaihat Bazar started receding. "We've learnt that the tourists will go up to Gangaram end. Then they will reach Khagrachhari by boats crossing the inundated portion of the on the Rangamati-Khagrachhari road."

Sajek Jeep Samity's lineman Yasin Arafat said the tourists carrying stranded buses have left for Khagrachhari after water started receding from the roads. The roads have become fit for the movement of traffic as no fresh rains have occurred.

Over 700 tourists of Sajek were stranded due to the halt in vehicular movement in Machlong area on the Baghaihat-Sajek road.

Communication came to a halt after flash foods inundated the road.

Recent heavy rains have not caused any major landslides in Rangamati. But the majority of Baghaichhari's low-lying areas have been flooded by the onrush of water from upstream.
