Four unnatural deaths in three districts

Four people died in separate unnatural incidents in three districts - Moulvibazar, Narayanganj and Chattogram, in three days.

SREEMANGAL, MOULVIBAZAR: A tea worker died after falling from a factory in Sreemangal Upazila of the district on Tuesday.

The incident took place in the factory of Kalighat Tea Garden under the upazila at around 12 pm.

The deceased was identified as Paban Tanti, 40. He was a worker of that factory.

It was known that Paban Tanti was working in the factory at noon. At one stage, he fell from the second floor accidentally, which left him critically injured.

His colleagues then rescued him and took to Sreemangal Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared Paban dead.

Being informed, police recovered the body.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) (Investigation) of Sreemangal Police Station (PS) Aminul Islam confirmed the incident.

NARAYANGANJ: A worker died after a stone from the hover of a lime factory fell on him in Bandar Upazila of the district on Sunday.

The incident took place at Awal and Brothers Chemical Lime Factory in Keodhala area under Madanpur Union of the upazila at around 12 pm.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Aziz, 55, son of late Chan Mia of Bhatgaon Village under Musapur Union in the upazila. He worked as a machine operator of that factory.

It was known that Aziz was working at the factory at noon. At that time, a stone from the hover of the factory fell on him accidentally, which left him critically injured.

He was then rescued by his colleagues, but died on the way to a hospital.

Being informed, police recovered the body and handed it over to the deceaseds family members without an autopsy as no complaint was lodged from them.

However, an unnatural death case was filed with Bandar PS in this regard.

HATHAZARI, CHATTOGRAM: Two young men died allegedly after consuming cough syrup mixed with intoxicants in Hathazari Upazila of the district on Sunday morning.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Rasel, a vegetable vendor by profession and son of Abdus Shukur, and Mohammad Shakil, 14, son of late Ilyas Ali, residents of Ward No. 1 Dewan Nagar area under Hathazari Municipality.

The two were found in critical condition near the Regional Agricultural Research Centre (Agriculture Farm) in the western part of the municipality in the morning and immediately taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), where the on-duty doctors declared them dead. The incident came to light when an Ansar member from the Regional Agricultural Research Centre noticed the two in distress condition and alerted their families.

Habib, deceased Rasels brother-in-law, said that the two had obtained the cough syrup from a local pharmacy on the previous night and consumed it after mixing it with an intoxicant. Their condition deteriorated rapidly due to the excessive intake of the mixture.

Initially, they were taken to Hathazari Upazila Health Complex, and then, shifted to the CMCH following their critical condition, where the duo died.

Being informed, police recovered the bodies and sent those to the CMCH morgue for autopsies.

Hathazari Model PS OC Mohammad Monir-uz-Zaman confirmed the incident, adding that two unnatural death cases were filed in this regard.
