Two commit suicide in Moulvibazar, Barishal

Two people including a teenage girl allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in two districts - Moulvibazar and Barishal, in four days.

KAMALGANJ, MOULVIBAZAR: A man reportedly committed suicide in Kamalganj Upazila of the district on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Himel Mia, 35, son of Khudu Mia, a resident of Rampasha Village under Kamalganj Municipality.

Local sources said Himel Mia had been suffering mental instability for long. Following this, he drank poison in the house at around 9:30 am.

Sensing the matter, the family members rescued him and took to Kamalganj Upazila Health Complex first, and then, he was shifted to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital following the deterioration of his condition, where he died while undergoing treatment.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) (Investigation) of Kamalganj Police Station (PS) Abdur Razzak said that no one informed the matter to them.

However, necessary steps would be taken in this regard, the OC added.

BARISHAL: A madrasa girl reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself in Banaripara Upazila of the district on Sunday night.

Deceased Nadia Akhter Mimi, 14, was the daughter of late Nazrul Islam of Narsingdi District. After the death of her husband, Mimis mother Tania again married a man, named Ripon, of Darikar Village under Chakhar Union in Banaripara. Mimi used live with her mother and studied in Chakhar Darbar Sharif Madrasa.

It was known that Mimi was talking with her paternal uncle over mobile phone on Sunday.

Her mother did not like it and scolded her for making any communication with her fathers family.
 
Following this, Mimi hanged herself with a scarf from the ceiling fan of her room at around 11 pm.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Banaripara PS OC Mainul Islam confirmed the incident, adding that an unnatural death case was filed in this regard.
