BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi visit critically injured Natore district BNP convener Shahidul Islam Bachchu at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital on Thursday (July 4).

BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that attack on Natore district BNP convener Shahidul Islam Bachchu was carried out at the directive of the prime minister, because she feels very pleased if she can witness blood of BNP leaders.

Rizvi made the remark while visiting critically injured Shahidul Islam Bachchu at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital on Thursday (July 4).
Shahidul Islam Bachchu sustained severe injuries on his body, including his wrists, as a group of ruling party activists reportedly attacked a rally in front of the BNP office at Alaipur on Wednesday morning.

Natore district BNP organised the rally, demanding the unconditional release of party chairperson Khaleda Zia and allowing her go abroad for treatment.

He was admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Wednesday night in critical condition.

Rizvi and BNP health affairs secretary Dr. Rafiqul Islam went to the hospital at noon and talked to Bachchu's family members.

"Shahidul Islam Bachchu is an elderly politician. The people of entire North Bengal know him as a good person. His hands, feet, and body were injured severely in the attack in a primitive wild style by local Awami League leader and Shafiqul Islam Shimul MP there," he said.

The BNP leader questioned what pleasure Awami League and MP Shimul have got by pushing Bachchu towards death through the brutal attack.

"I think this barbaric attack was carried out on Bachchu on the instructions of the head of the government. Because the head of the government becomes happy when she sees the blood of BNP leaders," he said.

Rizvi said a peaceful rally demanding the release of Begum Khaleda Zia was brutally attacked. "This attack is not only despicable and cowardly, it also manifests that misrule of Awami League."

He prayed for a speedy recovery of Shahidul Islam Bachchu.

It may be mentioned that there was a rally in front of Natore District BNP office on Wednesday morning to press home BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's release and fair medical treatment. District BNP convener Shahidul Islam Bachchu was going to attend the rally. At that time, several people hacked him indiscriminately in front of the city's government girls high school and then fled away, resulting in injuries on different parts of his body.

Later on Bachchu was rescued and rushed to Natore Adhunik Sadar Hospital. As his condition deteriorated there, he was referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Then he was brought at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.
