Man held with hemp in Kurigram

Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested a man along with 20 kilograms of hemp from Phulbari upazila in Kurigram district on Thursday night.

The arrested man is Shafiqul Islam, 35, a resident of Sorgorok Mondol area in the upazila.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of special force conducted a raid in Fulmati Ghatpar bridge area under Naudanga union in the upazila and arrested Shafiqul along with the drugs, said Noabur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Phulbari Police Station.

The arrested man has been sent to Kurigram jail after filing a case under the Narcotics Control Act with the police station, he added.
