Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) students staged anti-quota demonstration blocking Dhaka-Tangail highway.

Around 10:30am on Saturday, the students, under the banner of 'Students, Rajshahi University', took to the street and sit on in front of the main entrance gate of the university at Ashekpur bypass of Tangail.

A large number of law enforcers were seen present at the scene.
The students later left the street around 11:50am.

Following their road blockade, a 20-km of tailback was created from Natiapara to Elenga.
Mentionable, the movement of students and job aspirants is spreading across the country demanding the reinstatement of the government circular issued in 2018 by canceling the quota system in government jobs.

The protesters said they (students) never want to protest on the streets all day, they want to study. However, talented students will go abroad without getting a job due to a huge number of quotas. And will lose interest in doing government jobs in the country.

On June 5, the High Court declared illegal the circular that cancelled the quotas, including those for freedom fighters, in first and second-class government jobs.

As a result, the 30 per cent quota for freedom fighters in government jobs will remain in place.
