Two people were killed after a
truck hit another fruits-laden one in
Rajbari's Kalukhali upazila on Saturday morning.
The deceased were identified as Liton Hossain, 35, of Kushtia; and Anisur, 35, of Rajshahi. Both were the helpers of the two trucks.
According to local people, the helper of a mango-laden truck was repairing the vehicle on the Rajbari-Kushtia regional road as it suddenly went out of order. Around 6am, a Kushtia-bound another truck hit the standing one from behind while trying to overtake it, leaving Anisur dead on the spot and Liton critically injured.
Then locals rushed him to Upazila Health Complex. But, later, Liton was shifted to Kushtia Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
The drivers, however, managed to flee.
Police are trying to arrest them, said Pangsha Highway Police Station OC Harun-or-Rashid.
