A local Krishak League leader was hacked to death by some miscreants at Shyamnagar upazila in Satkhira district on Thursday night.
The incident happened near his fishing enclosure at Kholpetua village under Gabura union in the upazila around 12 midnight.
The deceased was identified as Kashem Ali Kaguji, 50. He was the president of Gabura union Krishak League.
It was learnt that on Thursday night, Kashem and his wife were sleeping in the enclosure to guard the fish. At around 12 o'clock in the night, some people came and tied up Kashem's wife and took Kashem hostage at gunpoint and hacked him to death.
Local UP chairman GM Masudul Alam said there was a dispute between Kashem Kaguji and Lokman Gong over the fishing enclosure. The Murder might have happened for this reason.
On information, police recovered the body and completed the autopsy, said Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge of Shyamnagar Police Station.
The matter is being investigated by the police, he added.
