PABNA, July 6: Police have recovered the body of a child from a jungle next to an abandoned building in Ishwardi Upazila of Pabna, a day after he went missing.
The body was found in the Dashuria Tetultala area on Saturday morning, said Ishwardi Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Biplab Kumar Goswami.
The deceased child, Jihad Hossain, was a third-grade student at a local kindergarten school.
Jihads elder brother, Mohammad Shuvo, said: "Jihad was playing in the rain with his classmates near the abandoned food warehouse in Tetultala around 5pm on Friday. After that, he went missing."
After a thorough search, announcements were made through loudspeakers at night, and a general diary was filed at Ishwardi Police Station the same night, he added.
Shuvo said, "Around midnight, Jihads shorts and sandals were found inside the Tetultala warehouse."
"Later on Saturday morning, his naked body was discovered in the jungle near the warehouse."
The body was sent for post-mortem examination, said Additional SP Biplab.
"There were injury marks on the body. Police are investigating the cause of the death", he added.
