RU students withdraw rail blockade after 4hrs

Students of Rajshahi University, who took position on the Dhaka-Rajshahi railway line to protest the reinstatement of quota system in government job, have withdrawn the blockade after four and a half hours on Monday afternoon.

Abdul Karim, station manager of Rajshahi Railway Station, acknowledging the matter said the blockade was withdrawn around 4pm.

Meanwhile, the train communication of Rajshahi with the north zone and the rest of the country was disrupted during the period following the blockade.
Before blocking the rail line, the students of all halls gathered at Paris Road at 11am. Later, they went to block the rail line with a large procession and chanted different slogans against quotas.  They parading different spots of the university that caused to halt vehicular movement from Vodra to Khorkhori Bypass.

Aman Ullah Khan, the coordinator of the quota reform movement, said that they will announce the decision of Tuesday's movement after coordinating with other students on Monday night.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday dismissed the movement against the quota system in the government jobs as irrational saying, "It is a sub-judice."
