A janitor of a college was arrested allegedly for raping a a 19-year-old HSC examinee by holding her hostage in
Chattogram city on June 30.
The accused Mosharraf Hossain, 30, was arrested from Feni by Chawkbazar Police and sent to Chattogram Central Jail.
The incident came to light on Tuesday when the college dismissed him from his post.
According to case statement, the student went to the college on June 27 to collect her HSC exam admit card. Around 11:30am, Mosharraf saw her with a friend near the washroom on the fourth floor of the academic building. He threatened to inform the principal and her family about them, causing her to panic.
Mosharraf then offered to take her home but instead took her to a hotel in the city, where he raped her in a room.
Later, the student filed a
rape case with Chawkbazar Police Station on June 29 following the incident.
Chawkbazar Police Station officer-in-charge Wali Uddin Akbar confirmed the matter and added that investigation is ongoing in this regard.
