11 sent to jail, 6 confess

Some 11  people, including three officials of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) were sent to jail  for alleged involvement in leaking questions of government job exams and rest six including former driver Abed Ali confessed their crime before several magistrates of  Dhaka CMM court on Tuesday.

The 11 persons who were sent to jail are driver Abed Ali's son Sayed Sohanur Rahman Siam, deputy directors Abu Jafar and Jahangir Alam, assistant director Alamgir Kabir, Noman Siddiqi, Jahidul Islam, Mamunur Rashid, Niamul  Hasan, Sakhawat Hossain, Shadat Hossain and Abu Solaiman Md Sohel.

Metropolitan Magistrate Tahmina Haque passed the against the 11 accused in PSC question papers scams.

The six others who confessed their crime are driver Abed Ali, office staff Khalilur Rahman, office staff Sajedul Islam, businessman Sakhawat Hossain and his brother Sayem Hossain and  Lito Sarkar.

The six other who gave confessional statements to  six magistrates, said GRO Alamgir Hossain.

The Investigation Officer Additional Special Police Super of CID, Jewel Chakma produced the 17 accused with two prayers, one to keep 11 accused in jail and another to record confessional statements in the sensation question paper leak scandal of PSC.
 
After hearing both sides, the court rejected the bail pleas and sent all the accused to jail.

A team of CID arrested on Monday from various are in the city for their alleged involvement in leaking questions of government job exams. They were arrested during ongoing raids for allegedly leaking question papers of 30 recruitment exams over the last 12 years.

The six accused confessed to their involvement before six separate Metropolitan Magistrate Courts of Dhaka.

The case was filed by the CID with Paltan Police Station on Monday night under BPSC Act.

In the case, the names of 31 people have been mentioned and more than 50 unknown people have been made accused in the case.

A private television channel aired an investigation report on Sunday evening which uncovered the scandal involving leaked question papers for 30 recruitment exams, including the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS).
