Implementation of the 8th Five Year Plan was affected due to impacts of Covid pandemic. The government plans to compensate the shortcomings in the ninth plan to be implemented through July 2025 and June 2030. General Economics Division (GED) of the Planning commission is preparing the plan.
Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yoma Kiminori at a meeting with Planning Minister Abdus Salam at the planning ministry on Wednesday said Japan is ready to cooperate with the implementation of the 9th five year plan as per its needs.
In response to a question after the meeting, the Japanese ambassador said various issues involving the future plans of Bangladesh were discussed in the meeting. The country is now working on the ninth five-year plan.
Yoma Kiminori said Japan is revising its Country Assistance Plan. In this case, the new priority will be determined based on the country need for assistance through discussions. Japan will stand by Bangladesh according to the governments priorities.
A concept paper has already been drawn by the government to prepare Bangladesh Ninth Five Year Plan (July 2025 to June 2030): Secretaries of more than 15 ministries convened a committee to discuss the Concept Paper of the plan titled Sustainable and Equitable Growth for Higher Middle Income.
After the meeting with the Japanese Ambassador, the Planning Minister said, the Japanese envoy was particularly requested to continue Japans cooperation in Bangladesh capacity building. In particular, support has been sought for implementing the second stage of the Public Investment Management System.
He also said discussions were held on training manpower skills. The Ambassador said Japan will stand by Bangladesh through implementation of the 9th five-year plan and future plans.
