Schoolboy dies from snakebite in Laxmipur

LAXMIPUR, July 10: A schoolboy, who was bitten by a snake in Ramgati Upazila of the district, died at Noakhali General Hospital on Monday night.

Deceased Abid Hossain, 13, was the son of village doctor Bellal Hossain, a resident of Balurchar area in Ramgati Upazila. He was an eighth grader at Balurchar High School.
Local sources said a venomous snake bit Abid in the afternoon while he was catching fish in a beel next to his house, which left him critically injured.

The family members then rescued him and took to Noakhali General Hospital, where Abid was declared dead by the on-duty doctor.

Balurchar High School Managing Committee President Advocate Ripon Patwari confirmed the incident.
