Jashore road accidents leave 3 dead

Three people were killed and nine others injured in separate road accidents at Bagherpara upazila of Jashore district on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Siddique Sheikh, 50, son of  Shukur Sheikh of South Srirampur village of the upazila, Sabuj Hossain, 42,  son of  Shobed Ali from Rajabari village of Nandail upazila in Mymensingh district, and Tarek Sardar, 35, son of Babu Sardar of Baga village under Keshabpur upazila of the district.
Citing locals, Tularampur Highway Police Station officer-in-charge Mritunjoy Biswas said the accident occurred around 7:30am in in Dakshin Srirampur area when a Jashore-bound truck hit five people beside the Jashore-Narail highway and the truck fell into the road side ditch, leaving Mohammad Siddique Sheikh dead on the spot and four others injured.

The injured were rescued and taken to Jashore General Hospital, he said.

Meanwhile, Sabuj Hossain died on the spot when two pickups collided head-on in Karimpur area of the upazila on the same highway around 11:30am, leaving five others were injured, said the OC.

The injured four were taken to Jashore General Hospital, he said.

Another two injured were taken to Narail Sadar Hospital, where Tarek Sardar died while undergoing treatment, the OC added.

The bodies were handed over to their respective family members after the completion of legal procedures.
