Teachers' pension scheme to be effective from Jul 2025: Quader

The universal pension scheme 'Prottoy' will be effective from July 1, 2025, said Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday.

"There was a confusion on the pension scheme, it will be effective from July 1 next year, not from this month. The information given to the teachers of the public university before this for 2024, is not correct."

He said this to reporters after a meeting with the delegation of university teachers, who are on work abstention demanding the cancellation of 'Prottoy'.
"The prime minister had stated in the parliament that the scheme would take effect from this year which was wrong. All will be included to the pension scheme from July 1, 2025," Obaidul Quader added.
