Four die in separate incidents of electrocution in city

Four people died after being electrocuted amid heavy rains in different areas of the capital on Friday.


The deceased were Md Alauddin, 17, hailed from Tarakanda upazila in Mymensingh, and Rasel Das, 27, from Chattogram, Abdur Nur, 35, a mason in Bhasantek and Aiyub Ali, 45.

In Pallabi, Alauddin and Rasel, both were employee of a furniture shop in the area, were removing furniture as water entered their shop at Aziz Market during heavy rain on Friday afternoon.

Abdul Aziz, sub-inspector of Pallabi Police Station, on Saturday said suddenly both of them were electrocuted and got unconscious. Locals rescued and took them to Kurmitola General Hospital where duty doctors declared them dead.

The bodies have been kept at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy, the SI said. Legal procedure in this regard is under process.

In Kotwali, painter Aiyub was electrocuted at Agarbati lane near CMM Court on Friday night as he was returning to his Sutrapur home after work. 

Aiyub was first taken to local hospital and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead, said Sub-Inspector of Kotwali police station Rajib Dhali.

In Bhasantek, In Bhasantek, Abur Nur, a mason by profession, became unconscious after being electrocuted while he was wading through knee deep water in the area. 

Locals rescued him and took him to the Kurmitola Hospital where doctors declared him dead, said Sub-Inspector of Bhasantek police station Pronay Krishna Mondal.
