The residents in Dhaka may experience heavy congestion in the upcoming week due to religious events and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued the traffic advisory at a press conference on traffic management held at the DMP Media Centre on Saturday.
SM Mehedi Hasan, Joint Commissioner (South) of the DMP Traffic Department, said there will be three days of HSC exams, the return Ratha Yatra, which will take place on Monday, when followers of the Sanatan religion will be out on the streets, and Ashura will be observed on Wednesday, with the Tazia procession occurring on that day.
He said the traffic department is working to alleviate the traffic congestion and minimize public inconvenience.
Besides, the quota reform movement is also ongoing, so considering all these challenges, deputy commissioners of each division are working to reduce public inconvenience through effective traffic management.
While responding a question about the police steps to stop the public inconveniences which occurred through the quota reform movement at Shahbagh, the police official said in such undesirable situations, traffic division members coordinate within the eight divisions.
The team DMP works jointly with the crime division and they always try hard to minimize public inconvenience as much as possible, he added.
