A man was reportedly beaten to death by miscreants at Goalanda upazila in Rajbari district on Saturday afternoon.
The incident happened at around 5:00 pm at a mahogany garden in Nobu Osim Uddin Para under Uzansor union in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Shahid Mollah, 46, hailed from Durgapur village under Pabna's Aminpur Police Station.
Locals said, on Saturday afternoon, some miscreants beat up Shahid by bamboo sticks and hammers in Habibur Rahman Habir's mahogany orchard in the area, leaving him critically injured.
They rescued him and took to Goalanda Upazila Health Complex where he was declared dead by the on-duty doctors.
Getting information, police recovered the body and it would be sent to a hospital in Rajbari for an autopsy, said Pranbandhu Chandra Biswas, officer in-charge of Goalanda Police Station.
Shahid Mollah was an accused of four different cases including murder, extortion, with different police stations, the OC added.
He might be a member of extremist group, Pranbandhu Chandra Biswas added.
