Police recovered the floating body of a ward councilor in Naogaon's Patnitala upazila on Sunday morning.
The body was recovered at around 10:30 am from Buridaho beel in Patisara area in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Mizanur Rahman, 40, a resident of Sotochandpur area under Nozipur municipality in the upazila. He was the councilor of 9 no. ward in Nozipur municipality.
The family members of the deceased and police said that Mizanur went out from his home around 10am on Saturday but did not return.
Later, on Sunday morning, locals spotted his floating body in the beel (water body) and informed the police.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Naogaon General Hospital morgue for an autopsy, said Mozaffar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Patnitala Police Station.
Police suspect he might have addict.
The details will be known after getting autopsy report, the police official added.
