Police recovered the floating body of a Ward Councillor in Naogaons Patnitala upazila on Sunday morning. The body was recovered at around 10:30am from Buridaho Beel in Patisara area in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Mizanur Rahman, 40, a resident of Sotochandpur area under Nozipur municipality in the upazila. He was the Councillor of Ward No 9 in Nozipur municipality.
Deceaseds family members and police said Mizanur went out from his house around 10:00am on Saturday but did not return.
Later, on Sunday morning, locals spotted his floating body in the water-body and informed the police.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Naogaon General Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Mozaffar Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Patnitala Police Station.
He might have drowned due to drug addiction but the details will be known after getting autopsy report, the police official added.
