COXS BAZAR, July 14: A member of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) reportedly sustained bullet injuries during a gunfight between law enforcers and militant group Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) at Rohingya Camp of Ukhiya of Coxs Bazar early Sunday. The injured was Md Shahraj, 25, a Constable of APBn Madhuchara Police Camp.
APBn-8 Commander Additional Deputy Inspector General (ADIG) Mohammad Iqbal said nine members of APBn was engaged to provide security of Madhuchara Rohingya Camp-4 extension, Block-F.
A group of militants comprising 30 to 35 people entered the camp from outside and suddenly opened fire on the APBn men, triggering a gunfight between the two groups. Later the outsiders fled the spot.
ADIG Iqbal said during the gunfight Shahraj was shot in his right leg and right hand finger.
Shahraj was rescued and was taken to Ukhiya Health Complex and later shifted to the Coxx Bazar Sadar Hospital for treatment.
APBn arrested a member of militant group ARSA with arms and ammunition during a drive in Ukhiya camp of Coxs Bazar early Sunday.
The arrested was Mohammad Illius, son of Hasan Ahmed of Camp-11Sub Block A/15.
APBn-14 Commander Additional DIG Mohhamad Iqbal said acting on a tip off a team of APBn conducted a drive on Camp-20, Block-A M/35.
