A motorcyclist was killed and another two were injured after their motorcycle crashed into an electric pole at Palashbari upazila in Gaibandha district on Monday morning.
The accident took place at around 11:45 am in front of Abdul Halim Miar rice mill on the Tengra-Badiakhali road in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Sagor Miah, 20, son of Mintu Miah, a resident of Giridharipur village under Palashbari municipality.
The injured are Naimur Rahman, 20, and Samiul Islam, 21.
Eyewitnesses said that the trio were going to Kashiabari from Palashbari riding on a motorcycle. When they arrived in the area, the driver lost control over the steering and hit a roadside electric pole in the area, leaving all of them critically injured.
Locals rescued them and took to Palashbari Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctors declared Sagor dead. The injured Naimur and Samiul were referred to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) for better treatment.
Laisur Rahman, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Palashbari Police Station, said the body has been kept in the upazila health complex.
Legal procedure are under process in this regard, the OC added.
