RU, RUET students protest demanding quota reinstatement

The students of Rajshahi University (RU) and Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) protested the quota reinstatement in government jobs on Monday.

Approximately one thousand students from various halls participated staged a sit-in on the Paris Road area at RU campus, demanding quota reforms where the students chanted slogans such as "Who are you? Who am I? Rajakar, Rajakar...... Who says what, the Constitution, the Constitution," "We demanded rights, became Rajakar," and "Who says what, the government, the government"
The students said, "We have been protesting for logical demands for so long. If the authorities of the country treat our demands this way, then where will we go? I hope the Prime Minister understands her mistake and accepts the demands of the student society."

"The Prime Minister's remarks against the quota reform movement are disrespectful to the country's student society. We do not expect such comments from her. Until our demands are met, we will continue our movement," the expressed.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's recent statement has prompted the student society to declare rejection. We demand a retraction of her statement," the students said further.
