DINAJPUR, July 15: The bodies of two missing youths were recovered from the Belan River in Khansama Upazila of the district in two days.
Khansama Fire Service and Civil Defence diving team recovered the bodies in separate drives.
The body of missing Jayanto Roy, 25, son of Jitendra Nath Roy of Dakshin Agra village under Khansama Upazila, was recovered on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier on Saturday evening, the Fire Service personnel recovered the body of Bankeshwar Chandra Roy, 35, of the same village.
It was known that the two youths were returning home from work on Saturday. At that time, the duo slipped into the Belan River while crossing the rubber dam, and went missing there. Local people tried to rescue them by going down to the river but failed.
On information, a team of divers from Khansama Fire Service Station rushed in and recovered the bodies after conducting long search, said Khansama Fire Service and Civil Defence Leader Abu Sayem.
Officer-in-Charge of Khansama Police Station Mojaharul Islam confirmed the incident, adding that the bodies were handed over to the deceaseds families as there was no complaint received in this regard.
