10 hurt as ‘BCL men’ attack protesters in Munshiganj

At least 10 people were injured in an attack reportedly carried out by the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on students, who were demonstrating for quota reform, in Munshiganj on Wednesday.

According to the witnesses, the students from various educational institutions, gathered in supermarket area at around 11:30am and chanted anti quota slogans.

BCL activists, who took position on the opposite side of the road, reportedly attacked the protesters with sticks, dispersed them, leaving ten people injured.
Later, police brought the situation under control.

Officer-in-Charge of Munshiganj Sadar police station Aminul Islam said the demonstration had disrupted traffic movement on one side of the road.

Replying to a question, he said it was still unclear who had carried it out the attack.
