Metro rail operations halted at four stations

Metro rail service has temporarily been suspended at Mirpur-11, Mirpur-10, Kazipara, and Shewrapara stations amid clashes between police and protesting students at Mirpur-10 in the capital on Thursday. 

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) informed this at its verified Facebook page citing safety of passengers.

It said the services had been suspended in these stations from 2:25pm on Thursday.
Currently the trains are running on the Uttara North-Pallabi and Agargaon-Motijheel sections.

DMTCL assured that they will promptly announce the resumption of services at the closed stations as soon as they reopen, the post added.

Meanwhile, metro rail director (operation) Md Nasiruddin said a police box at Golchattar was set on fire Thursday noon and the metro service was suspended at 2.25pm considering the situation.

Besides, a traffic police box was vandalised at old Mirpur-10.
