Police in separate drives arrested at least 141 individuals from different parts of Tangail District.
10 cases have been filed with the police relating to vandalism and violence during the
quota reform movement in the district so far.
Abdullah Al Mamun, Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) in Tangail, confirmed it. He also said the arrested vandalized seven vehicles and set fire on
three police boxes while injuring 28 policemen. The injured policemen are
receiving treatment at a hospital.
The arrested have been charged with carrying out acts of vandalism in Tangail district on last Thursday and Friday. They allegedly attacked, set fire on many public and private establishments, including Awami League office, police box, post office, vehicles and business establishments. A number of innocent civilians were also injured during violent attacks.
In addition, they have been charged with burning pictures of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib and four martyred national leaders.
