Motorcyclist killed in Jhenaidah road accident

A motorcyclist was killed after a pick-up van hit a motorcycle in Jhenaidah's Sadar upazila on Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened in Boidanga Brick Kiln area on the Jhenaidah-Chuadanga road.

The deceased was identified as Iqbal Hossain Akash, 19, son of Motiur Rahman, a resident of Rangyarpota village in the upazila.

It was learnt that a chuadanga-bound pick up van hit Iqbal's motorcycle in the area while he was travelling from his house to Jhenaidah, leaving him dead on the spot. 

On information, Fire Service personnel recovered the body and sent it to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Abdur Rahman, sub-inspector of Jhenaidah Arampur Highway Police, confirmed the incident.

The pick-up van was seized from the scene, while its driver managed to flee, the police official added.
