Two teenage boys died after drowning in Kaptai lake on Friday in Rangamati district.
The accident happened around 12:30 pm in Tabalchhari Art Council Colony area under Rangamati municipal area.
The dead were Arnab Chowdhury, 15, son of Babul Chowdhury of Tabalchhari Master Colony area, Adison Saha, 16, son of Amit Saha.
A teenager named Shibam Dash, 15, has been referred to Chittagong in this incident. Shibam is the son of Nayan Das of that area.
It was reported that on Friday afternoon, Arnab, Adison and Shibam went to bathe in Kaptai lake adjacent to Art Council Colony. But none of them knew how to swim. At one point, the three boys drowned in the water of the lake while taking bath.
Later, local people rescued the trio from the water.
They were brought to Rangamati General Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared Arnab and Adison Saha dead.
On the other hand, Shibam Dash has been referred to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital.
Rangamati Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Zobaida Akter confirmed the death of the two.
