At least three journalists were killed in violence centring Quota Reform Movement this month.
Over 150 journalists suffered injuries mostly in attacks by law enforcers and miscreants during the ongoing student movement, according to an English national daily that cited the Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ).
The number shows how journalist on-duty becomes target of attacks in demonstration in the country.
According to media reports, Tahir Zaman Priyo, 24, former Videographer of online news portal, The Report, was shot dead at Science Lab in the capital on July 19.
Meanwhile, Journalist Mehedi Hasan of Dhaka Times was shot dead in Dhaka's Jatrabari area while covering the protest on the same day.
Md Torab Hossain, Photojournalist of local daily 'Jalalabad', died at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital while undergoing treatment after sustaining bullet wounds during a clash between police and BNP activists in the Sylhet city on July 20.
Among others, Photojournalist of the Daily Observer Khandaker Azizur Rahman alias AR Sumon sustained gunshot injuries on both his legs at Paltan on July 19. Photojournalist Milon of Khaborer Kagoj was also injured at that time.
Both of them received treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the same afternoon.
DUJ, Dhaka Reporters Unity, Law Reporters' Forum and the Editors' Council expressed deep concern over the vulnerable environment for journalists in the country.
