Woman killed in Meherpur road crash

A woman was killed in a road accident at Gangni upazila in Meherpur district on Saturday. 

The accident occurred  around 9:30am on the Meherpur-Kushtia road in Chocktola area in the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Nisaran Khatun, 55, resident of Kastdah village in the upazila.

It was kearnt that a Kushtia-bound Lata Hamba (locally made engine-run vehicle) hit Nisaran Khatun while she was crossing the road in the area, leaving him dead on the spot. 

On information, police recovered the body and seized the vehicle from the spot, said Tajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Gangni Police Station.

Legal procedures are under process in this regard, the OC added.
