Five shops gutted in Ctg

Five shops and a dwelling house were gutted in a fire at Fatikchari upazila in Chattogram district early Saturday. 

The incident happened at around 3:00 am Manikpur village under Kanchonnagar union in the upazila.

Kamal Uddin Chowdhury, Station Officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defense of Fatikchari upazila, said the fire originated from a cooking oven of a tea stall in the area and engulfed the adjoining shops and houses within a short time.

One fire fighting unit from Fatikchari upazila headquarters rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control with the help of locals at around 4am.

Shops owners claimed that the fire damaged property worth about Tk eight lakhs.
