Illegal fishing nets seized at Porsha

PORSHA, NAOGAON, July 27: Illegal fishing nets worth about Tk 1.80 lakh were seized from the Punarbhaba River in Porsha Upazila of the district on Thursday. 

Under the directive of Upazila Nirbahi Officer Arif Adnan, a team of the local administration led by Upazila Fisheries Officer Moniruzzaman conducted separate drives at various points in the river, and seized 130 illegal fishing nets.

Later on, a mobile court burnt down the seized nets. 

Upazila Fisheries Officer Moniruzzaman confirmed the matter, adding that such drives will continue in the river.
