NETRAKONA, July 27: In the last two months, six physicians of Mohanganj Upazila Health Complex of the district were transferred,  halting its daily healthcare activities.

This health complex was promoted to 100-bed one from 50-bed complex in October last year.

Mohanganj is the gateway for going to haor areas. This upazila is visited by people from neighbouring Barhatta, Khaliajuri Upazilas of Netrakona, and Dharmapasha Upazila of Sunamganj District. People of these areas also come to Mohanganj for taking treatment.

At present, patients are becoming victims of disarray in the Outdoor mostly. Patients' suffering is on the rise.

According to sources at the health complex, in the last two months, Dr Sabiha Sifat was transferred to Sonargaon-Narayanganj, Dr Aklima Jahan Khan to Singair-Manikganj, Dr Shahriar Jahan Osmani to Netrakona Sadar Medical College Hospital, Dr Arifa Jannat to Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute, Dr Foyjul Alam to PG Hospital, and Dr ABM Baki Billah Junayed was transferred to Khaliajuri Upazila Health Complex.

At present, seven doctors are working at the health complex.

Due to the physician crisis, patients are deprived of necessary treatment in the hospital.

In this situation, they demanded increasing doctors in the hospital on an urgent basis.

A recent visit to the healthy complex found severe pressure of patients in the Outdoor; many patients in queue did not get treatment.

Mohanganj Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Rehena Parvin said, the physician crisis has been informed to the authorities concerned.

"It is going on a hiccupping situation to tackle pressure of patients," she added.
