Primary and Mass Education Ministry Secretary Farid Ahmed said on Saturday, a meeting would be held today (Sunday) on reopening of government primary schools.

"Efforts are underway to reopen government primary schools this week. The decision will be taken following a meeting scheduled for Sunday," Farid told reporters.

The Primary and Mass Education Ministry closed the primary schools on July 17 after violence spread across the country over students' Quota Reform Movement.

Citing student security concerns, the Ministry on July 24 again announced closure of primary schools in eight cities for an indefinite period.
