Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have arrested a man along with 1.895 kilograms of gold from the frontier area of Kolaroa upazila in Satkhira district on Monday.
The alleged gold smuggler Md Yeakub Ali, 53, of Rajpur village, was arrested from Bhadiali area of the upazila.
BGB-33 Satkhira Battalion Commander Lt Col Md Ashraful Haque confirmed the information in a press release on Monday afternoon.
"Tipped-off, a team of the force conducted an operation in the area around 6.15am on Monday and challenged Yeakub while he was heading towards the border," reads the press release.
While searching him, the law enforcers recovered the gold, worth around worth Tk 1 crore 95 lakh 9 thousand and 25, from his possession, it said.
A case was filed with the concerned police station after submitting the seized gold to the District Treasury office, added the media release.
