Violence in Satkhira: 12 students placed on 2-day remand

A court on Monday has granted two-day remand for 12 out of 16 students accused of attacking and setting fire to Satkhira Sadar Police Station during quota reform movement.

The investigating officer of the case sub-inspector (SI) Mollah Abdus Selim presented the accused before Satkhira Senior Judicial Magistrate Court, seeking seven-day remand against each of the accused while thed efence lawyer prayed for bail.

After hearing, Senior Judicial Magistrate Ziaur Rahman granted two-day remand for 12 students. Four students were not granted remand as they are underage.

The police official Abdus Selim said that the 16 arrested individuals are facing charges of vandalism, arson attack, and obstructing police work.

After the verdict, the defence lawyer filed a petition to the court for the cancellation of remand and grant bail to the students.
