Two ‘commit suicide’ in Rangamati, Barishal

Two people including a college girl allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in two districts - Rangamati and Barishal, on Sunday and Monday. 

KAPTAI, RANGAMATI: A man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself in Kaptai Upazila of the district on Monday morning. 

The incident took place in Ward No. 6 Dongnala Village under Raikhali Union of the upazila. 
The deceased was identified as Singsuimong Marma, 43, a resident of the area.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandraghona Police Station (PS) Ansarul Karim said that Singsuimong Marma was a mentally imbalanced person. He committed suicide by hanging himself in the morning. Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene.

Details will be known after the investigation, the OC added.

BARISHAL: A college student reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself in Agailjhara Upazila of the district on Sunday.

The incident took place in Bahadurpur Village under Rajihar Union of the upazila at night.

The deceased was identified as Sima Mandal, 22, daughter of Madhab Mandal, a resident of the area. She was an honours third year student at Dasar Sheikh Hasina Women's College.

It was known that Sima's family arranged her marriage with a man, aged about 50 and father of two children, recently. Sima did not agree with the marriage. 

As her parents forced her due to their poverty, she hanged herself with a scarf from the ceiling of her room in the house on Sunday night.
 
Before killing self, Sima also wrote a suicide note, where she mentioned the reason behind her suicide. 

Being informed, police recovered the body on Monday morning and sent it to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Sub-Inspector of Agailjhara PS Mosharraf Hossain confirmed the incident, adding that an unnatural death case was filed with the PS in this regard.
