Commuter trains will run on short distances from next Thursday in the relax time of curfew.

The decision was taken on Tuesday afternoon in a meeting regarding the start of train movement of Bangladesh Railway in the meeting room of Rail Bhaban.
Iftekar Alam Rajan, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Railways, said that the curfew will be relaxed from Thursday and the short-distance train movement will start.

However, no decision has been taken regarding the running of inter-city trains, he said.

The meeting chaired by Railway Minister Md Zillul Hakim was attended by the Secretary of the Ministry of Railways, Director General of Bangladesh Railway and other senior railway officials.

Earlier, the movement of passenger and freight trains was stopped from July 18 due to the violence of the quota reform movement. After that, based on the high-level instructions of the government, the railway authorities announced the suspension of train movement across the country for an indefinite period.
