A Cox's Bazar court on Tuesday sentenced four individuals to death in two separate murder cases filed in 1994 and 1995.
Md. Mosharraf Hossain, the judge of Cox's Bazar 4th Additional District and Sessions Judge's Court, delivered the verdict in the afternoon, against Sher Farhad of Varuakhali, Abul Monaf, Karim Dadh, and Shamsul Alam.
In the first case, Sher Farhad was sentenced to death and fined Tk 100,000 for the murder of his cousin. The incident took place on December 20 of 1995, at Bottali bazaar in Rashid Nagar union of Ramu upazila, following a dispute over a baby taxi.
After hearing, the court found Sher Farhad guilty punished him with death.
In the second case, three individuals were sentenced to death for the murder of one Rabbat Ali on March 4 of 1994, in Maheshkhali upazila's Matarbari Maizpara area over a land dispute.
Additional Public Prosecutor Shawkat Belal expressed satisfaction with the verdict, stating that the court delivered justice based on proper witness testimonies and evidence.
However, the defense attorneys expressed dissatisfaction with the verdict and announced their intention to appeal to a higher court for justice.
