2024 Paris Summer Olympics

Samiul times his career-best yet gets eliminated

Samiul Islam Rafi, Bangladesh ace swimmer who represented the country in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, timed his career-best in the 100-meter freestyle heats even though got eliminated after being 69th among 79 compotators on Tuesday. 
  
The three national records holder Samiul finished the second heat in 53.10 seconds and placed fifth among eight there. The top 16 moved to the semifinals of the event. 

Earlier, five sportspersons from Bangladesh went to Paris to participate in the Greatest Shown on Earth. Among them, shooter Robiul Islam was the first to get eliminated. Now, Samiul joins him. 

The Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, formally began with a colourful opening ceremony on Friday. More than 10,000 athletes, representing 206 countries, are taking part in the mega event of sports.
