Man killed in rival's attack in Laxmipur

An elderly man was killed and six others were injured in an attack brought out reportedly by his rivals at Ramgati upazila in Laxmipur district on Tuesday.

The deceased was Md Noor Nabi alias Sher Ali, 59, while the injured are Md Riaz, 32, Md Tamim, 29, Tareque, 25, Naimur Rahman Majnu, 40, and Md Wares.
According to witnesses, there was a dispute between one Shahadat and the victim's nephew over teasing the latter's wife. To resolve the dispute, an arbitration took place around in the morning of Tuesday. At that time, Shahadat along with his other family members attacked on Noor Nabi and his cohorts.

Noor Nabi sustained severe injuries during the attack and died while he was being taken to Ramgati Upazila Health Complex.

Ramgati Police Station officer-in-charge Md Mosleh Uddin confirmed the matter and added that two individuals were arrested and legal actions were underway in this regard.
