Detained three students of Rajshahi University (RU) have been released with the help of teachers.
Earlier on Wednesday noon, Motihar police and Rajpara police detained five students of RU from their 'March For Justice' programme.
Hearing the news of arrest, teachers from different departments of the university went to Motihar Police Station to release the detained three students. They stayed inside the police station for nine hours for the students' release.
The three students are Sayed Samiul Basit and Majed Hasan, masters students of English Department of the RU; and Nayeen Islam, first year student of Institute of Education and Research (IER).
After nine hours' of discussion between the teachers and the police officials, the students were released at 1am.
It was learned that on Wednesday noon, the students brought out a procession in front of the Rajshahi University, instead of the court premises as part of countrywide 'March For Justice'.
Meanwhile, police detained two students from near the university's medical centre and one from the varsity's entrance gate.
Other two students were detained by Rajpara police from the Rajshahi court area.
The teachers said the process to release the other two from the police custody is continuing.
