A Dhaka court on Thursday gave the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) additional time to submit its further probe report in a case filed over the death of BUET student Fardin Noor Parash.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohona Alamgir set the fresh date as the investigation agency CID could not submit the report on Thursday.
The court has fixed September 5 to submit the further investigation report.
Earlier on April 16 last year, the court ordered the CID to investigate further the case filed in connection with the death of BUET student Fardin Noor Parash.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shanta Islam Mallik passed the order following a no-confidence petition filed by Noor Uddin Rana, plaintiff of the case, against the final investigation report submitted by Detective Branch (DB) of police.
Earlier on February 6, DB Police Inspector Yasin Sikder, the investigation officer of the case, submitted the final report clearing Amatullah Bushra -- the accused in the case -- of all charges.
Police recovered Fardin’s body from the Shitalakhkhya River, behind a cotton mill at Siddhirganj, on November 7, 2022, three days after he went missing.
Fardin's father Kazi Nuruddin Rana filed a case in connection with his son's killing with Rampura police station on the same day and the case was later transferred to DB Police.
Police on November 10, 2022, arrested Amatullah Bushra, a friend of Fardin and also a 3rd year student of East West University, from her Rampura flat and produced her before the court, pleading to place her on seven-day remand.
On November 10, the court placed Bushra on a five-day remand. After the remand on November 16, the court denied her bail and sent her to jail.
On March 16, 2023, Amatullah Bushra secured permanent bail in the murder case.
